Spicer’s Boat City, Houghton Lake Michigan 1998 -1999
As a result of illness in the family owned business I came back to Spicer’s Boat City to assist and oversee with the transition of management. During this time I served as interim General Manger throughout the transition, while making sure that the information transfer was seamless.

Spicer’s Boat City, Houghton Lake Michigan 1994 to 1997

Construction accomplishments included design and construction of the Service facility and the storage facilities for the property, as well as, the “on water facility”.
Island Water World Inc. N.V. Sint Maarten 1989 to 1994
This St Maarten Marina was my first venture into the Caribbean other than delivery of yachts to the destination. My responsibilities at Island Water World Inc N.V. included all day-to-day operations of the service, yard, parts, and dock operations. Accomplishments while at Island Water World included the purchase and installation of a Derrick crane (which is still in use today) and the transformation from a smaller boat yard to a yard capable of haul outs up to 60 feet in length and up to 30 tons. In addition I ultimately implemented the design and installation of their existing fixed pier Marina for 40 yachts.
Illinois Fox Harbor’s Inc, Illinois 1985 to 1989
Illinois Fox Harbors (now known as Sullivan Marina) is located on the Lake Shelbyville in Central Illinois. At the banks request, I assumed management of the facility serving as their GM. While there a complete new master development plan was put forth, adopted and implemented totaling some 2.5 million US. The work I supervised included new floating docks (on telescoping pods, which was a first for the region), a 90 seat floating restaurant and a complete new fuel farm and electrical system for the property.
Findlay Marina Inc., Illinois 1977 to 1985
Findlay Marina is located in Central Illinois on Lake Shelbyville, a US Army Corp of Engineer’s flood control, reservoir. My work there began in the late 1970’s and continued through the early 80’s. At age 14 I started working summers, after school and continued throughout college. In 1983 I took over as General Manger of the facility, which included just over 200 covered and uncovered slips for boats in the range of 20’ to 70’ in length, with the vast majority of being houseboats. During my tenure, the facility went through a variety of infrastructural changes which included the design, assembly and/ or construction of numerous covered and un-covered floating slips. The lake had a “high water mark of over 40’ above the design pool and thus the docks were constructed and engineered to raise and lower, on very short notice through a series of anchoring points, cables and winches. While there, I also supervised the purchase, financing and installation of two sets of manufactured docks from Meeco International and Galva Foam International.
